Station-Offset - Update 8/4/2023

This program calculates baseline stations, baseline points, normal bearings, offsets and offset points in relation to a known baseline. An alignment data text file is required to define the alignment. Depending on the input data given, the program will fill in missing data using using the following solutions:

Given BL Station => Calculate BL Point, Normal Bearing.

Given BL Point => Calculate BL Station, Normal Bearing.

Given BL Point, Offset Distance => Calculate BL Station, Normal Bearing, Offset Point.

Given Offset Point => Calculate BL Station, BL Point, Normal Bearing and Offset Distance.

Given BL Station, Offset Distance => Calculate BL Point, Normal Bearing and Offset Point.

Given BL Point, Offset Distance => Calculate BL Station, Normal Bearing and Offset Point.

This program assumes that the alignment data text file is avaiable and can be opened as the first step. The alignment data text file can be created from the Highway Plans function menu by selecting Calculations => Alignment => Horizontal. A single alignment data file may hold all of the horizontal alignments for a project.

Input variables:

Station-Offset Setup - Defines the alignment baseline used as a basis for station-offsets.

Import Project - A file selection menu will display. Select the alignment data text file.

Proj Name - Once the alignment data text file has been selected, the project name will automatically be displayed

Alignment - Select the specific alignment from the drop down box.

Description - Input any description text to be printed with the output.

Specific Station Setup - For a range of baseline stations, find the coordinates and normal bearings along the alignment.

Begin Sta - This is the first station in the range.

End Sta - This is the last station in the range.

Increment - Increment (ft) between stations in the range.

Calc Button - Press the Calc button after the range data has been entered.

Station-Offset Table - Data rows of the input and output information.

Station - This is the station on the baseline.

BL X Coord - This is the X or E Coordinate at the baseline station.

BL Y Coord - This is the Y or N Coordinate at the baseline station.

N/S, Deg, Min, Sec, E/W - This is the normal bearing to the alignment, and toward the right.

Offset Dist - Offset distance (ft). Negative value (-) is to the Left.

Offset X Coord - This is the X or E Coordinate at the offset point.

Offset Y Coord - This is the Y or N Coordinate at the offset point.

Del Button - Deletes the data row selected.

Add Button - Adds a new data row after the row where the button was selected.

Station-Offset Output and Plotting.

Output - This is where the Station-Offset table output information is shown.

Plot Offsets - Defines the elements and symbology for offset for DXF plot information.

Plot Alignments - Defines the elements and symbology for alignment for DXF plot information.

Plot Symbols - Defines the lengths, widths, radii and spacing for DXF plot information.

Align Output - This is where the alignment output information is displayed.

Sta Output - This is where the specific station output information is shown.

Action Bar

Run Button - Runs data in the Station-Offset table.

Clear All Button - Clears and resets the entire page.

Print Button - Prints the data shown in the Station-Offset Table.

Save Button - Saves the plotting symbology in the alignment data text file.

DXF Button - Creates a DXF file based on elements, symbology and plot symbols selected.

Close Button - Closes the Station-Offset program.
